I recently had the opportunity of seeing the newly refurbished
Paul Gauguin, while I escorted a charter we had onboard.
The Paul Gauguin completed a massive refurbishment in late
January of this year. The ship looks fabulous – much lighter, brighter colors –
more in tune with the tropical destination.
The cabins especially were greatly improved and gave one a
feeling of space – using lighter colors and a theme of either turquoise, light
green or beige color schemes.
The public rooms have all been refurbished using lighter
brighter colors.
-
The casino has
been slightly enlarged and the adjoining Piano Bar improved.
-
New wicker
furniture has been added to the outdoor areas of La Palette and the Pool Bar
providing nice comfy seating.
-
Le Grill has a new
look with wood lattice type sidings along the outer sides, colorful light
fixtures and open doors onto the pool deck area.
-
La Verandah has
been redone in a nice blue color scheme.
-
L’Etoile has had
a/v equipment added so that is can also be used for meetings in addition to
the main salon.
-
The Main Salon is
looking nice and fresh with a beige color scheme and has also had some new
a/v equipment added.

All in all, the ship is looking great and has a ‘new’ fresh feeling to it. The
ship is truly now as stunning as is her year around destination, Tahiti and
French Polynesia.
The charter sold by our client Buzz Levine CEO of the Travel Committee to a
major media company was a huge success from all stand points. The guests loved
the ship, raved about the outstanding service onboard, the food, and of course
how can one be disappointed in the destination. The weather was outstanding and
shore excursions were heavily booked by all and new and unique experiences were
had by all. Some of the best reviews were those guests that did either the
underwater helmet tour or the underwater aqua bike tours.
Even with the
distraction of this great destination a full schedule
of meetings, presentations and cocktail parties went off without a hitch.
We also brought our own 15 piece band from Los Angeles, who
were incredible. Aside from doing their own shows, they also jammed with the
ships band and fun was had by all.
We chartered a plane inbound and outbound for the majority of
the guests and for the first time since 9/11, we did airline check-in onboard
the ship which made for a much smoother departure.
Several of our guests did pre and post stays at the
Intercontinental and so were able to have the “bungalow over the water”
experience.
Our final Gala Event took place at the Intercontinental
Papeete – with a Marquesian show on a motu, dinner under the stars, our band
from Los Angeles and a ten minute firework show. A great ending to a perfect
trip. |
