Earlier in the year a
decision was made to send Worldwide's President of Sales on an
exploratory visit to if the the MICE Asia show was something we
should add to our trade show calendar and it was agreed we would
split the cost of a booth with
Celebrity Cruises. So in early August Steve Bloss accompanied
by his wife Diana departed for Singapore.
As it was destined to
be, the show was badly disrupted by the snap elections held to
decide a new government and, as it's mandatory to vote in Singapore,
many of the prospective attendees did not turn out for the trade
show.
Coupled to this the
heavy smoke from the annual slash and burn which was taking place in
Indonesia was being carried across to Singapore and causing
respiratory problems so people where staying indoors as much as
possible.
All in all the show
was not the success we had hoped for and it appeared that the not
inconsiderable investment made in exhibiting was a bad business
decision.
At this point in time
we are not considering returning to the MICE Asia show as there are
so many other show which are requesting our presence. |
