The Savarona
was commissioned and built at a cost of $4 million at the Blohm and
Voss shipyards in Hamburg in 1931 by Emily Roebling Cadwallader
grand daughter of John Roebling the engineer who built the Brooklyn
Bridge. Mrs. Cadwallader sold Savarona to the Turkish Government in
1938 and was used by the Turkish President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk who
was ill at that time and spend six weeks aboard Savarona and there
he held all his cabinet meetings up to his death November 10, 1938.
The Turkish Navy started using Savarona as a training ship after the
end of World War II. In 1989 Mr. Kahraman Sadikoglou leased the
yacht for 49 years and over the course of three year refurbishing
the yacht at an estimated cost of $25m million to bring Savarona
back to her former glory. Once again Savarona proudly sails
the oceans of the world bringing satisfaction and enjoyment to those
seeking the ultimate in luxury yachting. |
The Savarona
is the 4th largest private yacht in the world with a length of 446
feet. The services on board outclass by far those of the finest 5
star hotels and cruise vessels. A large swimming pool, two Jacuzzis,
two separate saunas and steam rooms, a fitness center and a floor
heated Turkish bath built from 260 tons of carved marble are
available for your pleasure. |
