Sitka (Alaska) to get new big ship dock |
||||||||||||||||
The Alaskan city of Sitka, famed for its appealing Russian
heritage and eco-sites, is getting a new dock to accommodate large cruise ships
of up to about 1,000 feet in length. Small cruise ships can already docked
downtown, but larger vessels must use tenders to take passengers ashore.
Halibut Point Marine Services, a local Sitka firm, says it's
secured all permits including one from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It's
building the private dock in front of its property on Halibut Point Road. |
