Are the recent bout of substantial price increases by the cruise lines

good news or bad.

As reported in another article in this edition of the "Cruise Insider" most of the main stream cruise lines have recently made some major increase to the pricing for future sailings.

The question is why and is this a good or bad thing and also, can they sustain these price increases without the buying public taking their vacation somewhere other than on a cruise ship.

It appears that the price increases where triggered by heavy booking though the "wave" season, that period in early spring when may people contemplating their summer vacation on a ship actual go ahead and book their cruise.  Good wave season bookings are most frequently triggered by bad weather in the north. with many people staying at home to avoid the cold and snowy conditions their thoughts turn to sunnier climes and balmy days spent on vacation and this results in bookings for that summer cruise.

So, the question is, will this jump in bookings continue beyond the wave season?

Certainly, the ships are filling up and here at Worldwide we are advising our clients not to wait if they are serious considering a cruise program.  Availability through his summer is becoming harder to find, some program wanting to increase their space have been disappointed to find their are no more staterooms available on their sailing and charter prices have jumped as cruise lines are faced with much larger "buy-off's" to switch FIT bookings to another sailing.

Naturally, the old law of "supply and demand" comes into effect and prices go up.. not just for FIT's but right across the board.  That's the bad news, the good news is that price increases mean larger margins, so we might all make a little more money on our programs and lord knows we need to.  When the cruise lines where selling staterooms at give away prices margins had become very small.

So more expensive cruises, and this is a relative term, as we are still no where near the pre-crisis pricing.... in historical terms cruising is still cheap and great value.

So, our advice is - call us to get your space on the books.. call us to discuss any cruise program plans you may have... call us just to say hello - we are waiting to hear from you.

Remember. no fees, no charges, just good honest, unbiased advice and assistance on all cruise brands - we don't have to sell you the only thing we have, we can help get your program onto the right ship at the right price in the right cruising area.
