Dozens of Musicians Jazz Up Crystal December Caribbean Cruise |

This December, nearly two dozen jazz artists will dazzle music
lovers aboard Crystal Cruises’ Experiences of Discovery Jazz Cruise. With live performances from piano solos to harmonious trios, quartets and full seven-piece bands, the 10-day Caribbean itinerary roundtrip from Miami aboard the award-winning Crystal Serenity December 11, 2010. The acclaimed Bill Allred Classic Jazz Band will headline, along with a variety of solo artists to fill the ship with the sounds of jazz in the classic styles of the ‘30s, ‘40s, and ‘50s. In all, six jazz pianists, nine brass musicians, and eight artists on drums and strings will be accompanied by four premier jazz vocalists. Also on board will be noted jazz historian, professor, author and Grammy Award-nominated producer Dr. Robert G. O’Meally. Among the featured performers are renowned saxophonist Harry Allen who has performed with Rosemary Clooney, Tony Bennett, and James Taylor, acclaimed vocalist and award-winning bass player Nicki Parrott and jazz pianist Rossano Sportiello whose music is influenced by playing with the world’s finest jazz luminaries. “For avid jazz enthusiasts and casual listeners eager to enjoy fantastic performances, the number of high-caliber artists set for this cruise will dazzle guests and enrich the immersive musical experience,” says Bret Bullock, vice president, entertainment. “Crystal Serenity’s various performance venues make this an exceptionally rich opportunity for jazz fans.” A veteran in orchestrating Jazz tours and cruises worldwide, Jazzdagen Tours has partnered with Crystal Cruises to present the musicians on board. Sailing from Miami, the cruise visits St. Thomas, Antigua, St. Barts, St. Maarten and Turks & Caicos. Per person, promotional Two-for-One cruise fares start at $3,575, double occupancy, and include $500 ‘All Inclusive – As You Wish’ shipboard credits. Many of the featured jazz stars will also perform on board Crystal Serenity’s 12-day, August 24 Mediterranean cruise from Venice to Istanbul, including the Pieter Meijers Quartet and numerous swinging solos. |
