MSC Crociere promoted Neil Palomba to corporate operating officer
for its worldwide operations, based from the company’s headquarters in Geneva
and reporting to ceo Pierfrancesco Vago. Palomba, who was chief operating officer for MSC Cruises USA, will be succeeded in the Florida office by Nicola Gargiulo, who was named to a newly created role, evp, reporting to Rick Sasso, president and ceo of MSC Cruises USA. Palomba has served as coo of the Florida office since October 2006. Earlier he oversaw the building of MSC Lirica and MSC Opera and their handover from the shipyard to the MSC Cruises fleet. He also represented the company in taking delivery of MSC Armonia (ex European Vision) when it was acquired in 2004. Prior experience included a 1.5-year shipboard stint as a deck officer and work in the Naples sales office. As coo of MSC Cruises USA, Palomba has managed the day-to-day operations of the North American general sales and marketing arm of MSC Crociere. ‘Neil has done an exceptional job,’ Sasso told Seatrade Insider. ‘He’s one of the most extraordinary young men I've ever worked with, extremely bright.’ Gargiulo has worked for MSC Cruises for eight years in various roles at sea and in the US and Italy offices. In his latest assignment, he was responsible for North American revenue including yield and inventory management. As evp he will oversee the North American operations, sales and marketing functions. |
