Carnival Cruise Lines Honors Retiring Capt. Casula
Carnival Cruise Lines held a reception at its Miami headquarters for the retirement of Capt. Gianpaolo Casula. The event, which was attended by dozens of friends and co-workers, paid tribute to the captain’s maritime career, which spans nearly 50 years, including the past 34 years at Carnival. During the reception, Casula was given a number of commemorative gifts, including a traditional maritime clock presented by Brendan Corrigan, Carnival’s senior vice president of marine operations, and President and CEO Gerry Cahill. Casula joined Carnival in 1976 as first officer and, after moving up through the ranks, was named captain in 1986. Over the years, he commanded virtually every vessel in the company’s fleet. Prior to joining Carnival, Casula worked for eight years at Costa Cruises and five years on various cargo and tanker ships at Carlo Cameli Lines
