Some Numbers You Have to See

Here are some interesting figures for international travel.  This information is from Business Travel News 2010 Resource Guide Mar 29, 2010.

Average hotel costs in an upscale hotel in the World’s top 100 cities $189.84 with an additional $21.31 in Misc Costs for a total of $211.15 per day. The top 30 cities in the World average closer to $260.00 per night.

Food, not including alcohol , costs in those same 100 cities averaged $136.71 per day for breakfast lunch and dinner.
The average for the top 30 cities was closer to $180.00 per day.

That is a cost per day of $325.00 for the average City for hotel and food compared to $440.00 for the more desirable cities that you actually might go to. This does not cover transportation while in that town, any entertainment, facility or resort fees.
