Paul Gauguin Cruises Expands Sale Force with Veterans

Paul Gauguin Cruises, operator of the luxury cruise ship in the South Pacific, has hired industry veterans Joyce Simon and Christine Anderson.

Recently acquired by luxury resort company Pacific Beachcomber, Paul Gauguin Cruises joined forces with David Morris International (DMI) to enhance worldwide sales and distribution efforts. “We are very pleased to announce the appointment of these two top professionals and to demonstrate our commitment to providing our travel agent partners with the highest levels of expertise, relationship and support,” said David Giersdorf, president and CEO of Paul Gauguin Cruises.

Simon, who has 20 years of experience in the luxury cruise sector, will serve as director of the Northwestern region and vice president of international sales. She most recently served as the vice president of sales-Western region for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, which operated the Paul Gauguin since it began cruising in 1998

Originally from New Zealand, Anderson will serve as director of the Southwest region and vice president of national accounts. She began her career as a sales manager for the Hotel Tahara’a and Hotel Bora Bora, and then served as an account executive at Air France/UTA French Airlines. She then became director of national accounts for Crystal Cruises. She most recently served as director of sales and national accounts for the Western Region at Silversea.

Simon and Anderson join an already seasoned Paul Gauguin sales team, which includes Jim Applebaum, director of sales for the Southeast region; Liz Coleman, director of sales for the Northeastern region; and Michael Beale, director of charter and incentive sales. Reservations are now open for the 2010 season, which features 38 itineraries ranging from seven to 15 nights, highlighting such destinations as Tahiti, the Society Islands, Tuamotus, the Cook Islands, Marquesas, Tonga, Fiji and New Zealand.
