Seabourn's new baby - the Seabourn  Odyssey Arrives at Port Everglades

The Seabourn Odyssey arrived into Port Everglades at Fort Lauderdale at dawn on Tuesday, Nov. 10 for its first visit to the U.S. It was the first coastline the guests had seen since they left the Portuguese island of Madeira on Nov. 2. Seabourn Odyssey was built in Italy and has spent the summer in the Greek isles, Turkey and the Black Sea.

The ship and its guests were greeted by colored sprays of water from a port-sponsored fireboat and music by Broward County’s Nova High School Titan Band, assembled on the dock in their green and black uniforms.

Seabourn Odyssey’s maiden call in the U.S. will begin with a once-over by the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Public Health Service. That will be followed by a two-day open house for the staff at Seabourn’s Miami headquarters and the next day for travel agents.

On Nov. 13, The Yachts of Seabourn is sponsoring a gala overnight cruise benefiting the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and three of its resident companies -- The New World Symphony, Florida Grand Opera and the Miami City Ballet.

Then on Nov. 14, the Odyssey starts roundtrips from Fort Lauderdale. On Jan. 5, Seabourn Odyssey will embark guests for a World Cruise that will end over three months later at Athens, Greece.

Two smaller Seabourn sisters -- Seabourn Legend and Seabourn Spirit -- will dock at Port Everglades in November. And in just over a year, Odyssey’s twin, Seabourn Sojourn, will arrive after its debut in London in June.
