Port Everglades sheds light on Oasis terminal

Construction of Cruise Terminal 18 is on schedule and will be completed for the November arrival of Oasis of the Seas, Port Everglades said today in releasing photos of a 4,000sq ft skylight recently installed in the center of the arrival hall.

The skylight is comprised of opaque panels that allow diffused natural light into the main open area. The natural light reduces the amount of electricity needed by the building.

The skylight also functions to illuminate a 3,000sq ft artwork that will be imbedded in the floor of the terminal. Michele Oka Doner created the piece using deep green and blue terrazzo, scattered bits of seashell and bronze inlays.
