The
198 meter steel hull for the Seabourn Sojourn has arrived at T.Mariotti’s Genoa
quay, according to a press statement from the shipbuilder. The second of three
ultra luxury ships ordered from T.Mariotti to boost the Seabourn Cruise Line
fleet, follows Seabourn Odyssey that started her maiden voyage in Venice on June
24 and is currently sailing in the Mediterranean.
The Seabourn Sojourn hull was built in San Giorgio di Nogaro (northeast Italy)
followed the same steps as the first ship, but she has been towed to Genova in a
more advanced stage of construction, including the main superstructures and her
characteristic shape.
In San Giorgio di Nogaro, the Sojourn’s supestructures have been joined to deck
9, with main engines, generators and major equipment already installed.
The yard operating in San Giorgio di Nogaro is now experienced enough to carry
out not only steel works but also further stages of constructions previously
committed to T. Mariotti’s Genoa workshops.
The completing and final outfit at the Genoa building site will engage up to
1,000 workers before delivery in May 2010.
Seabourn Sojourn will be named in London before sailing on its maiden voyage to
Iceland and Norwegian fjords.
Like her sisters, the ultra luxury ship will provide all-suite accommodations in
the Seabourn style, with 225 suites, 90 percent of which have private verandas;
offering one of the highest space per guest ratios in the industry.
Seabourn Sojourn will be followed by a third twin ship, already under
construction in San Giorgio di Nogaro for delivery in 2011. |
