Carnival Corp. is to build a new ships for P&O it's UK based brand.
Delivery is planned to be in the spring of 2010. The new ship will
resemble P&O's "Venture" which is scheduled to begin service in in
the spring of 2008. The new ship will cost Carnival Corp.
around $710M. This order will be slotted in ahead of
Carnival's new 130,000 ton new build which will cause the Carnival
ship delivery to be delayed until spring 2011. RCI recently announced that they where immediately cutting trans-fats from their menu's. Food will be prepared with trans-fat free oil with trans-fat free menu's being offered on their ships. RCI will start removing trans-fat menu items on March 1st, 2007, with the intention of having trans-fat free menu's by the end of the year.
Crystal Cruises also goes trans-fat free; Effective immediately, Crystal Cruises is trans-fat free. While many of the foods served aboard the award-winning Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony have been trans-fat free for a long time, the decision was made to eliminate trans fats in response to the growing public health trend and is in line with Crystal's continuing commitment to offer its guests healthy food selections. The ultra-luxury line's expert chefs have removed all trans fats in favor of more than a dozen trans-fat-free oils, including sesame seed, pumpkin seed, walnut seed, corn oil, and several olive oils, providing more healthful and flavorful alternatives. The changes have been incorporated across the ships' menus and restaurants and include everything from French fries to salad dressings. Whether for sautéing, deep frying, drizzling or baking, Crystal chefs are only using trans-fat free fats.
Carnival Cruise Line stopped using cooking oils
containing trans fats in 2005 and also currently offers
trans-fat-free salad dressings, Spa Carnival Fare, vegetarian
entrees and dinner breads. Designated by a special menu symbol,
the Spa Carnival dishes are available on all lunch and dinner
menus in the ships’ main dining rooms and are lower in fat,
sodium, cholesterol and calories. Poultry and meats are broiled
or roasted, salads are prepared with low-fat or fat-free
dressings and desserts with sugar substitutes. Carnival also
offers delectable vegetarian selections and a diverse array of
warm, delicious breads at each meal, all free of trans fats.
Additionally, while most items among Carnival’s tantalizing
cuisine choices are already trans fat free, the cruise line is
conducting a detailed analysis of remaining items that can be
replaced with trans-fat-free variations and is working with
vendors to find suitable alternatives. Pastries, buns, certain
cheeses and dessert icings (cake mixes are already trans fat
free) are all among the items currently being examined Other cruise lines are sure to follow in the next few months.

The Scholar Ship today announced the lease of a 29,000-ton ocean liner that will become the first oceangoing education program developed specifically for an international student body. The application deadline for the September voyage is April 30. The Scholar Ship will transform the 660-foot (201 meters) ocean liner to accommodate 600 undergraduate and graduate students in a multicultural academic and living environment. The ship, which will be re-named The Scholar Ship, has 389 staterooms that can accommodate 778 students and faculty, as well as 416 crew members. Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. provides funding and operational support for The Scholar Ship. The Scholar Ship will make its maiden voyage in September 2007 from Piraeus (Athens), Greece and sail westward on a compelling itinerary that includes stops in Lisbon, Portugal; Panama City, Panama; Guayaquil, Ecuador; Papeete, Tahiti; Suva, Fiji; Sydney, Australia; Shanghai, China; and Okinawa and Kobe, Japan. In addition to the program’s extensive onboard curriculum, each port of call provides a distinct educational platform from which students engage in academic field study, shore excursions, and independent travel. “Finding a vessel we could transform into an oceangoing campus was a unique challenge,” said Michael Bonner, chief operating officer of The Scholar Ship. “We wanted a ship with ample public space, expansive outdoor deck areas, comfortable staterooms, and appropriately sized rooms to conduct classes. After nearly a year of reviewing dozens of alternatives, we found a vessel that is ideally suited for our program. It is a classic ocean liner with a deep-draft hull, spacious rooms and decks designed specifically for longer global voyages.” Seven highly respected international universities have collaborated on the development of The Scholar Ship’s rigorous onboard and port programs. The Scholar Ship’s Consortium of Academic Stewards includes the University of California, Berkeley (United States), Macquarie University (Australia), Fudan University (China), Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), Al Akhawayn University (Morocco), University of Ghana (Sub-Saharan Africa), and Cardiff University (United Kingdom). “The Scholar Ship’s student diversity is distinctive among shipboard study programs,” said Dr. Joseph Olander, president of The Scholar Ship and a prolific author and esteemed university president in the U.S. and abroad. “Of the students requesting applications, the Americas represent 36 percent of student interest, Europe/Middle East/Africa - 44 percent and Asia Pacific - 20 percent. The faculty and onboard staff are similarly diverse.” "The response from such a broad group of students has been impressive,” said Olander. “Our distinctive education abroad model is catching on, in part because we provide a unique approach to immerse students in a multicultural environment that would be virtually impossible to create anywhere else." Program fees are approximately USD $20,000 per semester. A two-million dollar scholarship fund has been established for the 2007/2008 academic year to broaden the availability of this program to students from diverse backgrounds. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit and economic need. For additional information, visit www.TheScholarShip.com, or email Study@TheScholarShip.com. Telephone +1 410.962.7344
Luxury Cruise Line Invests $23 Million in Most
Expensive Following a $23 million dry dock, Crystal Symphony has emerged with a dazzling new nightclub, a complete redesign of its main entertainment deck and a decidedly sophisticated and contemporary style. Crystal Symphony's comprehensive refurbishment, its largest ever, has transformed all staterooms and bathrooms, completely reconstructed a social lounge and casino, refashioned boutiques, shops and its famed Bistro café, as well as dozens of behind the scenes improvements. Underscoring the company's commitment to quality, this major construction project follows a multi-million dollar renovation two years ago that debuted a brand-new Feng Shui-inspired spa, a new Vintage Room - today one of the ship's most popular features, an expanded Computer University@Sea, redesign of specialty restaurants, and complete refurbishment of all penthouse accommodations. Within the last two years Crystal Cruises has invested in excess of $35 million dollars in new construction projects on Crystal Symphony, expanding the stylish choices in dining, recreation and relaxation. "Whether veteran Crystal cruisers or new to Crystal, luxury travelers will be impressed by Crystal's continued attention to detail and style as well as the abundant space, extensive choices and friendly, attentive service that distinguish the Crystal experience," says Thomas Mazloum, Crystal's senior vice president of hotel operations. Since its debut in 1995, Crystal Symphony has enjoyed a decade of accolades, consistently earning the industry's highest praises. Earlier this year, the well-traveled readers of Condé Nast Traveler voted the 940-guest, 50,000-ton ship one of the top two "Best Ships in the World" - a distinction it shares with fleetmate Crystal Serenity. Major projects on Crystal Symphony included: Staterooms Completely redesigned with the look of a chic boutique hotel, the staterooms are elegant sanctuaries of refined style. Notable appointments such as new Murano glass bedside lamps, Rubelli fabrics and handsome leather headboard adorn a reconfigured space with state-of-the-art features including special LED reading lights and new 20" LCD flat screen televisions. Bathrooms are newly reconstructed with a contemporary style showcasing oval glass sinks atop granite countertops. Tiffany Deck - Main Entertainment Area As the hub of social activity, shopping, entertainment and casually elegant dining, Tiffany Deck (deck six) was completely transformed from stem to stern with new color schemes, new construction and new contemporary lighting that will create different moods as day moves into night.
Centrally located in the middle of Tiffany Deck, existing walls were removed and a dramatic round bar takes center stage in this stylishly open environment offering panoramic sea views. With window walls sparkling with Swarovski crystals, the new Starlite Club is the place to see and be seen, featuring lectures by day and dancing by night.
Dramatic black flooring now anchors a sophisticated new black and silver color palette in the completely redesigned Crystal Casino. In addition to black jack, roulette, baccarat, new offerings include The Ultimate Texas Hold-em and state-of-the-art slots.
From its polished aluminum Phillipe Stark bar stools to the glass Bizzaza mosaics, Crystal Symphony's modern new nightclub, aptly named Luxe, is a sophisticated spot for drinks, dancing and conversation. Located adjacent to the new Crystal Casino, a dazzling new lighting system flashes electric color off shimmering finishes and stunning shades of black, silver and white.
Cultured and refined, sleek and sexy. The sophisticated boutiques and shops aboard Crystal Symphony were completely transformed with dramatic white marble, black accents, clean stone finishes and stunning chandeliers. Facets features a new private space for guests to consider high-end jewelry purchases, and Apropos offers the line's popular logo items and resort wear.
A comfortable European atmosphere is recreated in this long-favorite venue, enhanced with new decorative tiles, new wall finishings and fresh upholstery all done in a warm palette of russets and earth tones.
Expanded just two years ago to accommodate the increased demand for its growing portfolio of courses, Crystal's revolutionary Computer University@Sea has been outfitted with all new equipment and features wireless access as well. Crystal selected prestigious design firms to lead the reconstruction including SMC Design and Clixby Associates, regarded for its modern luxe design. Each has a proven history of high-end projects, including previous work on Crystal ships. Crystal Symphony was undertaken in dry dock at the BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair in Norfolk, Virgininia. The luxury ship kicks off 2007 with several Panama Canal and Mexican Riviera cruises and then cruises to Asia and Europe.

Cunard's QUEEN MARY 2 arrived in Sydney Harbor early Tuesday a day ahead of a reunion with QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 . The rendezvous, off Sydney's Garden Island naval base was marked by whistle salutes and a firework display with the Harbor Bridge and Sydney Opera House as a backdrop. The last time two Cunard Queens were together at Sydney was during World War II when in 1942 QUEEN MARY and QUEEN ELIZABETH were operating as troop ships. Its noted that QE2's visit to Sydney will mark her 25th, while it is the maiden call for QM2. The celebration included fireworks from the harbor before Queen Mary 2 set sail later that evening for Hong Kong continuing on her Maiden World Cruise. QE2 is sailing her 25th Silver Jubilee World Cruise and calls on Sydney until Thursday. The arrival of the Queens was a spectacle that caused grid-lock both on the streets and shores of Sydney
Consumers continue to resist booking cruises out of New Orleans, even with prices lower than all other ports in North America (though some departures from Galveston are getting close). Carnival's decision this week to pull the Carnival Liberty from New Orleans this fall and into Miami is a blow to retailers in Louisiana and Mississippi. Outside of that region though, demand has stayed minimal. Comments MAST's John Werner: "I know that there are neighborhoods that still haven't rebuilt, but the places that tourists go are fine. Even so, a lot of agents are afraid to send people there." Word of mouth within the trade might pick up this summer, as Vacation.com is holding its annual conference in New Orleans. Comments Vacation.com's John Lovell: "Bringing 1,500-2,000 owner/managers and front line sellers into New Orleans, where they can see the riverfront and the pier, and then go back to their offices and communicate honestly that it's open for business, should allay consumer concerns."
SeaDream Yacht Club has announced record-breaking sales in the UK following the release of the 2007/8 brochure. SeaDream UK sales and marketing director Ian Buckeridge said: "Our new brochure was sent out to key UK luxury sellers and cruise specialists, since when we have achieved record sales in the UK."
Jean-Michel Foutrein, marketing manager of New Caledonia Tourism South reports that 2007 will be a record year for cruise ship visits to the French territory. Foutrein, said there will be 89 cruise ship visits this year compared to 82 in 2006. He said the government has been improving infrastructure and developing new ports to keep the cruise boom rolling. Foutrein added New Caledonia’s position east of Australia and north of New Zealand makes it ‘a natural’ destination for South Pacific itineraries.
Meanwhile, Guaymas is renovating an area of its centrally located cargo port for use by passenger ships. The town is visited by Lindblad Expeditions’ 60-passenger Sea Voyager, but larger vessels have yet to venture north from ports like Loreto, La Paz and Cabo San Lucas. ‘Guaymas holds some potential interest for us, but only if we add longer cruises to the Mexican Riviera and Sea of Cortez area,’ said Simon Douwes, director of itinerary planning for Holland America Line. Douwes said he has heard positive reports and plans to visit Guaymas soon. The town is known for its beaches, seafood, nature and history. Its roots as a Jesuit mission date back to the early 18th century, and the streets are dotted with churches. Military invasions and pirate attacks feature in the area’s history. Today, the economy is focused on tourism, with yacht marinas, golf, sport fishing, kayaking, diving, whale watching and horseback riding. Forty minutes from the harbor are the cave paintings of La Pintada. Carnival, celebrated in February, is the major annual event.

Thank you to the many clients and visitors to our web-site for advising us of an on-going problem. Starting sometime after the start of the New Year we experienced an intermittent problem with the site navigation buttons, they would not display their contents. The problem then extended to the product section of the site when all the hyper links disappeared.
We suspect that the site got hacked and a virus started the problems.
This has now been mostly fixed by taking the site completely down and clearing the whole program from our servers. We have now copied back the content of the site but many link remain to be hooked up.
Worldwide appreciate your patience whilst this frustrating problem is fixed.
Worldwide is pleased to be able to offer our clients a really excellent value buy-in opportunity. Please click on the above link for full details. This offer is ONLY available via Worldwide so please contact us directly. Equally frustrating is the difficulty we have experienced communicating with our clients by e-mail. This is not related to our web-site problem, but appears to be simply that our domain name - cruiseco.com - is being blocked by either anti-spam, anti-popup or anti-virus software. We have several large programs and charter nearing delivery and not being able to communicate with our clients especially when attachments need to be sent, is a most frustrating issue for both parties.
