Champagne Cruises Aboard the Luxury Hotel Barge "Panache"

European Waterways has announced it will be offering five new “Champagne Cruises” in Champagne, France, aboard the Panache luxury hotel barge in 2017.

The new sailings were added in response to increased demand for the itinerary. Departures will take place next year on June 11, 18, 25 and July 2 and 9. Panache can accommodate up to 12 passengers along with a crew of six that includes an English speaking guide, a chef and the captain.

The European Waterways Champagne cruise will takes guests along the River Marne through the Champagne region, with excursions including a visit to La Maison Pannier, a well-known champagne house founded in 1899. Guests will take a tour of the site’s cellars and enjoy a private tasting. There will also be a tour and tasting at Domaine Ployez-Jacquemart, another champagne house located near Reims and established in 1930 by Marcel Ployez and his wife Yvonne Jacquemart.

Other experiences to take place during the sailing include a tour of the village of Hautvillers, where nearly 350 years ago the monk Dom Perignon discovered the “méthode champenoise,” a special way of getting the “sparkle” into wine. Guests will also enjoy a “degustation” of champagnes at a nearby boutique. The Baroque Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is also on the itinerary.

The six-night itineraries are all-inclusive and are priced at $6,190 per person, based on double occupancy. Charter bookings are also available.
