Harvest Caye - NCL's 2nd Private Island Opening Delayed to November

Norwegian Cruise Line has today confirmed that the opening of Harvest Caye will be delayed until November 2016, nine months after it was scheduled to launch.

The 75-acre plot in southern Belize was purchased by the cruise line in August 2013 and the $50 million project was originally set to debut on February 16, 2016.

A spokesperson from Norwegian said "Norwegian Cruise Line is developing the Caribbean's premier destination experience at Harvest Caye, Belize. This spectacular resort-style port of call will feature an expansive pool, exclusive beach, shallow lagoon for water sports, private luxury cabanas and many more exciting features.

We are dedicated to delivering the highest quality amenities and services to our guests in one of the richest ecosystems in the region with a diversity of flora and fauna that is core to the Harvest Caye experience. As a result, the grand opening of Harvest Caye will take place in November 2016. Guests sailing on Western Caribbean cruises now through mid-November will enjoy the beauty, adventure and rich history of this country with a call in Belize City."

When it opens, Harvest Caye will be Norwegian Cruise Line's second private port, after Great Stirrup Caye in the Bahamas, which opened in 1977.
