Dan Dhappelle who served as vice president of
sales for Windstar Cruises for almost 3˝ three years, has Resigned from the
cruise line.
At
Windstar, his primary responsibility was to work with the travel agency channel
as well as charter and incentives and international sales.
“An opportunity like this rarely comes along, and I am proud to have been part
of the team that took the company from bankruptcy to the World’s Best Small Ship
Cruise Line in just four years,” Chappelle told TravelPulse. “Travel agency
support has grown tremendously in that time and is a major reason for the
current success of the business.”
He said he plans to stay in the travel industry. “I spent most of my career on
the distribution side of the business before joining Windstar,” he said. “I am
hitting the reset button and plan to take a few weeks to review opportunities on
both sides of the business. Either way, my focus will be on creating
opportunities for travel agents to earn a living and be successful.”
Chappelle has had a long career in the cruise industry, working as a dive
manager and purser with Royal Caribbean in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
He was president and owner of Cruise Shoppe of Austin from 1992 to 2001 before
joining Cruise Holidays / Carlson Travel Franchise Group for three years. He
then was vice president-U.S. operations for Expedia CruiseShipCenters for more
than four years.
“In my opinion, the travel agent segment is the greatest distribution channel in
the industry,” he said, “and I sincerely thank you for your continued support.” |
