Nearly a Hundred Cruise Liners Arrived to Progreso During 2014

During 2014 over 90 cruise liners arrived at the port of Progreso, Mexico, where about 350,000 foreign tourists enjoyed the food, beaches, tourist sites, handicrafts and warmth of its people.

Each week “Carnival Triumph”, arrives at the port, since adding it in its journey in 2013, as well as the and “Elation”. Both typically come every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and stay from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

This year’s visit for the first time arriving at the port was the “Emerald Princess” which brought more than 3,000 passengers. One that will soon visit yucatecan lands will be “Crystal Serenity”, the most luxurious in the world, coming on Saturday from Miami to enjoy the hospitality of yucatecan people.

So far this year the “Carnival Triumph” and “Elation” cruise liners have left a decent economic benefit, being the most profitable month in July.

The director of Tourism and Sports, Cecilia Rodríguez Meza said that so far the port of Progreso has received 344,623 cruise passengers allowing the town to remain as a preferred international tourism site.

To Progreso´s Mayor Daniel Martinez Zechariah since the beginning of his administration, it has been apriority that service providers give the best care possible to tourists, and thanks to the coordinated efforts with the Ministry of Tourism projects to attract more cruise liners are on the way, which will achieve great benefits to the port and State of Yucatan.
