Carnival Cruise Lines changing it's name | ||||||||||||
Carnival Cruise Lines will soon be permanently dropping the “s” from “Lines,” USA Today reported. Since it first set sail in 1972, the name has been plural, but recently, official company documents present it as singular. However, the transition is not complete. A Dec. 17 press release regarding a new CEO has singular usage, along with a Dec. 19 announcement about a new ship order. But a company earnings announcement released that same day uses the plural. Also, all websites related to the company have not made the switch to singular. Carnival spokesman Vance Gulliksen verified
that a name transition was occurring, telling USA Today, "Yes, we are gradually
changing the name to Carnival Cruise Line (singular). This is a gradual change
that is more closely tied to how Carnival Corp. & plc refers to its other
brands." |
