Mediterranean Region Set for Record Year in 2015

Have cruise lines put their trust in the Mediterranean again? It may seem so, as the Mediterranean is back to record capacity numbers after a dip in 2013 and 2014, according to the 2015-2016 Cruise Industry News Annual Report.

The region peaked at just over 4 million passengers in 2012, before cruise lines pulled capacity out due to economic woes. Now, more ships are back, as the region looks to eclipse the 4 million passenger mark again in 2015, and looks set for a potential record year.

Costa Crociere leads the way in market share, carrying just over 20 percent of the passengers, while Royal Caribbean notes a big increase from its 2014 number, but is still down significantly from the 585,000 passengers it carried in 2011.

About the Annual Report:  The Cruise Industry News Annual Report is the only book of its kind, presenting the worldwide cruise industry through 2025 in 350+ pages. Statistics are independently researched.

The report covers everything from new ships on order to supply-and-demand scenarios from 1987 through 2021+. Plus there is a future outlook, complete growth projections for each cruise line, regional market reports, and detailed ship deployment by region and market, covering all the cruise lines.
