Worldwide's recent Silverseas's Charter makes a first cruise ship call on Serande, Albania

In early September one of Worldwide's clients completed a unique corporate charter program.  This was a fully customized charter which included a custom itinerary in the eastern Mediterranean.

One of the calls made on the voyage was to the virtually unknown port of Serande on the west coast of Albania.  The call was as far as could be ascertained, the first by a cruise ship of this kind.

When the ship arrived off the port it was uncertain as to whether the ship was going to have to anchor off as there where no charts of this port available.  The Captain personally inspected the port and its entrance in a tender and decided that it was safe to enter and come alongside.

Much to the delight of the passengers the locals gave them a warm welcome and their tour of the area and subsequent exploration of the town went down wonderfully well.

Saranda or Sarandė is the capital of the District of Sarandė, Albania, and is one of the most important tourist attractions of the Albanian Riviera. I expect we may see more calls at Serande in the future.
