Royal Caribbean’s Lisa Bauer Departs After 11 Years
Menu Lisa Bauer, Royal Caribbean International’s executive vice president of global sales and marketing, left the company after 11 years. Rob Zeiger, spokesman for parent company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., said Bauer announced her departure on the same day as the company revealed plans to eliminate about 100 positions across different parts of the company. He said he was not sure of Bauer’s plans.

“I can tell you she absolutely made her mark here at Royal Caribbean,” Zieger said. “She worked all around the company in sales, hotel operations and marketing, and a lot of things we do well are a result of her good work. She was a terrific, effective executive, and we wish her well.”

The job elimination does not signal a major business change or a “dismantling” of a structure Bauer oversaw, Zeiger said, adding that the 100 jobs comprise less than 2 percent of the company’s workforce. “It is reflective of our continuing drive for greater efficiency in our company, not a major shakeup," he said.

Bauer oversaw Royal Caribbean International’s global marketing and revenue management as well the company’s sales and marketing offices and international representatives around the world, which also represent Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises.

Before that, Bauer served as senior vice president-hotel operations for Royal Caribbean International, overseeing hotel services, food and beverage, onboard revenue and entertainment. She helped launch the largest cruise ships in the world, Oasis of the Seas in 2009 and Allure of the Seas in 2010.

Bauer joined Royal Caribbean in October 2002 as senior vice president of sales, directing sales activities in North America for both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. Before joining Royal Caribbean, Bauer was vice president of marketing and sales for Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort. Bauer also previously worked for Midwest Express Airlines and Legend Airlines.
