Barbados: Bridgetown to Get New Port | ||||||||||||||||
Royal Caribbean has introduced plan to make partnership with the Barbados government for the construction of a new port in Bridgetown. George Hutson, the Barbados Minister of International Transport and International Business, said: “If we are going to remain relevant, if we are going to capitalise on the opportunities available from cruise tourism, we must renew our plant from the basic infrastructure currently existing to one which will accommodate and service the increasingly large cruise ships.” The project is expected to cost US$300 million and will take two years to complete. Dredging is scheduled to start in November. |
