Royal Caribbean stalwart Malcolm Lynch died Monday

Malcolm Lynch, whose career at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. spanned more than two decades and included roles in hotel operations and human resources, died Monday after a long battle with cancer.

He leaves legions of friends throughout the industry.

Lynch was 'passionate about cruising,' said Gail Nicolaus, vp marketing, public relations and customer service at MSC Cruises USA, a former Royal Caribbean colleague, who added: 'He was so well-spoken with that lovely British accent.'

Lynch joined Royal Caribbean in 1988 as manager of hotel operations, a role he held for eight years. He then worked as director of pre- and post-cruise guest operations, leading the department that delivered hotel packages and ground services worldwide for the Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises brands.

From 1998 to 2008, Lynch served as director of human resources, global shipboard affairs, focused on strategic planning and quality support within HR and working with multiple organizations and government agencies globally.

Lynch earned a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management at Manchester University with additional education in human resources at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

He is survived by his wife and a son.
