He will be missed -Rama Rebbapragada passes away
Rama Rebbapragada, who was vice president regional for Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean International, has passed away after a long illness.

Serving with Royal Caribbean since 1983, he played a key role in building up the global reach of the company’s Caribbean brands and was also the first chairman of the Asia Cruise Association.

"It is probably totally unnecessary for me to tell you that Rama was one of the most dedicated, loyal and passionate advocates for Royal Caribbean that we have ever had at the company. He may have had the widest circle of friends of anyone in the cruise industry,” said Adam Goldstein, CEO and president of Royal Caribbean International, in a statement.

“I am grateful to Rama for his selfless service to our company and industry. No one took the simple message "sell, sell, sell" more personally or applied it more broadly across the globe or did so with more grace and professionalism. It was fitting that Rama served as the first Chair of the Asia Cruise Association (ACA). He made a particular mark in waking the world's most populous region up to cruising."

According to the ACA, Rebbapragada was instrumental in the formation of the Association, took on the chairmanship and dedicated himself to leading the association in the promotion and growth of the industry in Asia. He served from January 2010.

Said Kevin Leong, recently appointed by Rama as general manager of the ACA: “I had known Rama when he was first sent to Singapore to start the Royal Caribbean Asia office. His dynamism was infectious and when he started up the ACA, I knew that Asia would become the next big cruise region sooner than later.

We mourn his passing but we will continue his legacy and turn his dreams into reality.” Commented Trey Hickey, vice president international sales & marketing for Princess Cruises and Cunard Line, “Rama touched the lives of so many across the world; he kindly brought me into the industry 15 years ago and has served as my mentor ever since. Rama will continue to be an inspiration to all of us and will be missed".
