Dietmar Wertanzl Joins International Shipping Partners, Inc. (ISP)

Dietmar R. Wertanzl accepted the position of exec vice president hotel and commerical operations with ISP. Dietmar comes to ISP with vast experience within hotel management on cruise vessels, and with small expedition-style vessels; two areas of immense importance for the ISP fleet.

Dietmar started his industry experience with Norwegian American Line, after which he joined the five-star luxury Royal Viking Line as Hotel Director over a six-year period on all four RVL ships. From there he was recruited for the start-up of the luxury cruise line, Crystal Cruises with responsibility for the creation of their hotel product from inception, and also served as the inaugural onboard Hotel Director for the first year.

In 1991 Dietmar was hired by Chandris as a Vice President to build up their hotel product for its new upscale brand, Celebrity. Three years later in 1994 he returned to Crystal Cruises as Senior Vice President Hotel Operations.

In 2002 when Celebrity Cruises was taken over by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Dietmar was recruited back to Celebrity as Senior Vice President Fleet Operations, a position he held for four years. During his tenure as SVP at Celebrity, he was also Managing Director of the small expedition cruise vessel XPEDITION, where he became very interested in small ship cruising, and subsequently following his time at Celebrity, he was COO for Tauck World Discovery, a family-owned company offering upscale vacations, especially on small ships. In 2008 Dietmar became President-CEO for Cruise West, the leader in small ship cruises in Alaska.

His experience within the hotel industry on cruise ships; from upscale names such as Crystal, Royal Viking and Celebrity, combined with eight years of experience in small ship cruising, is a perfect match for ISP, and we are very pleased that Dietmar accepted this position where he will be responsible for the hotel product on the eight vessels where ISP Leisure is the Hotel Concessionaire.
It will also be Dietmar’s responsibility to expand and grow all ISP Leisure’s business within the ISP Group.
