CLIA’s Marketing Director Smith Resigns to Restar

Consulting Firm

 
Jim Smith, CTIE, director of marketing for Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), has resigned his post to return to his own marketing consulting firm.

Effective April 1, he will restart his consulting firms, Market Share, Inc. and Brand Congruency, in Boca Raton, Fla. Smith joined CLIA in July 2008 its Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to manage the association’s consumer and trade marketing efforts, including agency membership and training, collateral production and development, e-marketing and web content and trade advertising. He also was responsible for marketing CLIA’s annual National Cruise Vacation Month and World’s Largest Cruise Night and other promotional initiatives and programs.

Before he was named to his post at CLIA, Smith was principal of Market Share, Inc. He also served as senior vice president of industry relations for Auto Europe and vice president, sales and marketing for Delta Vacations/Certified Vacations Group. He was president of GEM, the Islip, N.Y.-based travel consortium that was eventually folded into Vacation.com, and regional director of sales for National Car Rental in New York.
