||||||||||||||||
Holland
America Line recently announced that it will base the Rotterdam year-round
in the Dutch city for which the ship is named, starting in September 2012. Itineraries through spring 2013 include several regional sailings ranging from 14 to 19 days, plus a 34-day Caribbean cruise and a 90-day Asia cruise. HAL said it selected Rotterdam because of the cruise line's "deep historical connection to the city as well its easily accessible location in Northwest Europe." "Rotterdam is going to be a wonderful homeport for many of our European guests, but these longer itineraries also will appeal to travelers coming from all over the world," said Richard Meadows, HAL's executive vice president of marketing, sales and guest programs. The 14- to 19-day cruises will call at ports in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Morocco and the Canary Islands. The 34-day Caribbean cruise will depart Nov. 2, 2012, calling at the Azores; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. Maarten; St. Lucia; Trinidad; Barbados; Aruba; Bonaire; Curacao; Madeira; and Southampton, England. The roundtrip 90-day cruise will call at ports in Spain, Greece and India, both before and after a journey to the Far East. There will be overnight stays and extended time in port in Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore, plus a two-week exploration of Indonesia. Segments ranging from 12 to 53 days are available on the 90-day cruise. |
